STUDENT CENTER

The student center is usually the center of social life for students living on campus. Student organizations may be housed there, and social events like rallies and dances may also be held there.  Southern Connecticut State University has a student center called the Michael J. Adanti Student Center. This student center provides many services to students and faculty including cultural, social and recreational activities. Many other facilities are housed in the Adanti Student Center: the school Book Store, Cafeteria, Fitness Center and Multicultural Center. Two other important resources held in Southern’s student center are the Office of Student Life and the Wellness Center.

Office of Student Life

The Office of Student Life at Southern Connecticut State University provides almost 100 clubs and organizations for students. Many of these clubs and organizations were created by students. There are also great opportunities to get involved in community service and school organized events, such as Homecoming and Spring Week.Check out Southern’s club and organization list here. The main goal for the office of student life at any university or college is to help students find an area of interest, participate in that area and meet other students that they might not have met outside of a club or organization.

The University of Bridgeport has an Office for Student Programming and Community Services that helps students with orientation, clubs and community service.Over 40 clubs and organizations exist to provide students with opportunities to participate in social, educational and cultural activities.Click here to see a list of the University of Bridgeport’s clubs and activities for students.

Wellness Center

Southern Connecticut State’s Wellness Center serves as a place for students to go to speak with someone about issues related to health. There are many resources available to students: outreach, educational workshops, campus programs, work-life balance, nutrition, fitness, illness and disease, sexuality, and stress management. These resources serve as an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to learn more about general health and safety as well as creating an environment for healthy learning, working and living.

The University of Bridgeport also provides Student Health Services. These services are available to provide help to those who become suddenly sick or injured.Instead of going to the hospital emergency room students and faculty can save that time, money and effort by receiving care at the Student Health Services.Services that deal with health education and promotion are also available.
